Metodiem is open content, and it can only grow with the people who use it. There are three ways to contribute, depending on what you can bring: your expertise, your organization, or funding.
The need Metodiem answers
Since February 2025, article 4 of the European regulation on artificial intelligence provides that organizations deploying AI systems ensure a sufficient level of literacy among their staff. This obligation concerns companies, public administrations and educational institutions.
It exists, but there is not yet a shared method to answer it, nor an established way to demonstrate compliance.
In parallel, the European Commission, the OECD and the Council of Europe have published detailed frameworks that define precisely what one should know. These texts come with neither educational content, nor a path, nor assessment.
An obligation without an implementation tool on one side, frameworks without a dissemination instrument on the other. It is the same gap, seen from two different points of view.
Contribute to the content
You are a researcher, teacher, specialist.
The content needs expert review and co-writing, particularly on algorithmic bias, disinformation and environmental impact, which are the most demanding subjects of the European framework and the least covered elsewhere.
Each unit must stay traceable to an official competency, which requires verification work we cannot carry out alone. Contributions are credited, and the content produced stays under a free license.

Deploy in your organization
You represent an institution, an administration, a company.
The content is free to reuse, you can take it up today without consulting us. What we develop around it are the services that open content does not provide.
Certification. A trained employee is one thing, a document attesting that a person has reached a level of AI literacy is another, and that is the one an auditor asks for. Certification is not content, it is an act of verification. It is designed to meet the requirements of article 4, and we are working towards its formal recognition. It is aimed at organizations as well as individuals wishing to demonstrate this competency.
Tracking. A dashboard showing who completed what, where the gaps are, how progress evolves over time. It is a function no open resource fills.
Support. Training of trainers, adaptation to the sector, in-person sessions, assistance.
Integration. Connection to existing systems, customization, dedicated hosting.
Each of these services would remain necessary even for an organization that took up the entire content, since they concern verification and support, not knowledge.
We build these offers with a limited number of partners, and the needs expressed at this stage will guide the product.
Fund the development
You wish to support or invest in the project.
The demand stems from a regulatory text rather than a trend, which makes it relatively predictable. The organizations concerned are identifiable: those deploying AI systems in Europe, educational institutions, administrations. They have an obligation, a timeline, and exposure in case of failure.
The answers currently available remain partial. Generalist training attests little against the European frameworks, and classic training bodies are backed by no official framework. We do not claim to be alone on this ground, but we have not identified an actor that articulates the two frameworks and produces proof aligned with article 4.
Our position owes less to technology than to institutional grounding. Building a course platform about AI is within reach of many actors. Presenting oneself as the instrument that jointly applies the framework of the European Commission and the OECD and the framework of values of the Council of Europe requires traceability work that few have undertaken.
The openness of the content strengthens this position rather than weakening it. Every school that takes up a unit, every translation, every citation helps establish the reference. Closed content would not have this circulation.
The development priorities are content across all nineteen competencies, translation, and setting up certification.
The social dimension
We start from a simple conviction: neither country, nor budget, nor age should determine who understands artificial intelligence.
This conviction is not separate from the model, it is part of it. Knowledge circulates all the better for being free, and this circulation is what gives Metodiem its legitimacy. The services that are financed, certification, tracking, support, answer needs specific to organizations, distinct from those of a person learning on their own.
