European institutions have defined the competencies expected in matters of artificial intelligence. The European Commission and the OECD established the competency framework, which says what to learn and in what order. The Council of Europe established the framework of values, which says along which dimension to learn it: human, technological or practical.
What was missing was a common instrument to spread them: shared, open content that clearly points back to the official frameworks.
Metodiem fills that gap by crossing the two. Each unit builds on an identified competency of the European framework and carries a dimension from the Council of Europe. It is this crossing that lets us teach use and perspective together, rather than treating ethics in a final chapter. The content stays reusable under a free license by schools, associations and institutions.

Our difference
The domain others cover the least: questioning AI, not only using it.
Shape is the last domain of the European framework, and the most demanding. It concerns bias, disinformation, the environmental footprint, and what artificial intelligence shifts in power relations. The May 2026 conclusions of the Council of the European Union name these three issues explicitly.
It is also the domain least covered by existing platforms, probably because it is the hardest to make interactive. That is precisely where Metodiem builds open, interactive content, to help everyone keep a critical eye, not just operate the tool.
